A Globetrotter Soul

A window on the world

In the past years, I crossed several roads and countries, searching my way, searching for inspiration for a meaning in life, a purpose. Seems that "just go ahead" is, until now, the main reason that pushes me to go ahead. Must be something at the end of the rainbow and if not...well I can always say to my self that I walked on the rainbow.

The pictures of my journeys are not only static images: are stories, piece of soul, vibrant results of my steps, bricks of a long wall decorated with paintings, notes, lyrics of songs, quotes from movies. I am trying on this website to organize in a virtual place all the colorful mess that is in my memory, made of the shine of the sun hitting the buildings of a  city never saw before, flowers that I saw in a little corner of a city or in a wide meadow backcountry, funny walks in the streets of a new country or strenuous but satisfying hikes out there...

If you want to get a look on what can be out there, here a lot of windows will be open for you, you can jump into it reading the story behind that brought me there, and you can also take a souvenir that you'll be able to hold your hands and hang on your wall: looking at it you can start to dream about your personal journey. I hope to inspire you, with Photos, Books, Movies and Songs. Let's go!

Backpacking around

I lived in a little town in southern Italy. I always dreamed to travel to the States and see New York. But was always too expensive. I started to train myself backpacking in Europe: Paris, Amsterdam, London.

In London, I escaped leaving my hostel's room in the city in order to reach stunning cliffs on the deep ocean named on the map with the suggestive name Land's End, in Cornwall. The next year, I crossed that ocean to see New York. In the Natural History Museum of NY, I saw the pictures of the Grand Canyon and the wildlife in the desert: and I was ecstatic.

The next week, I booked a flight to Las Vegas, and with a low-cost Chinese bus I reached three Canyons, and Yellowstone. Then, my flight to go back was in Los Angeles. I saw the sign of the end of Route 66. I promise myself than soon I later, I will do that.

After I went down all the Atlantic coast, Toronto to Key West, and in Virginia I did it hiking the Appalachian Trail, sleeping in the woods in my little camping tent. A few months later I found myself in my dream trip on the mother road: Route 66, crossing the States, ending camping in the Arizona desert, as my imagination: a campfire, cactus around, stars above, and coyotes in the background.

How? Plenty of money? Not at all. Only a backpack almost all the time, busses and hiking. Not restaurants but grocery stores. Not hotel: hostels and when I am lucky just my tent. The road is calling, and I am singing its song. I can't believe that I did it, that I am doing: so, I have to look at my pictures, my memories.
